Late Post from Yesterday (1/24/2023)

Today’s lesson was that we don’t recover from overnight flights like we used to.  I guess that’s the reason that college kids pull an all nighter, whereas semi-retired folks just push through so they can go to bed at a reasonable hour.

After we landed, we caught our ride to the Marriott without any issues.  We got here by 8:30ish am (which means we made record time through Immigration and Customs; they were both polite and efficient).  What we didn’t count on, though, is that check-in for the hotel wasn’t until 3:00 in the afternoon.

They were happy to allow us to park our five (5) suitcases with them while we went off to explore.  What they didn’t factor in, though, is that these two seniors wanted (a) a bathroom; (b) a shower; (c) clean clothes and (d) a nap – and not necessarily in that order.

Instead of getting that right away, we got to hang out in the hotel lobby until about 2:00, pm when we’d finally pestered them enough that they got us into a room.

It’s a nice room on the 20th floor.  Very spacious and inviting, although we didn’t really appreciate all that this afternoon.  We needed a nap and a low-key day after traveling that much.
