More Changes

The first change noted in travel is that whereas we relied heavily on paper for things like ticket last time we went on a major trip, now almost everything is digital.  No paper boarding pass, just flash the code on your phone and you are magically checked in.  Paper is still available, but it is sure not looked on with favor!

Other things that have changed – in the past, one of my tasks was to research the money wherever we were destined, and in the itinerary notebook that EB creates (another relic destined to the annals of history), I would put pictures of the money along with a quick conversion table.  There were notes on tipping in various countries as well.

That’s all on our phones at this point.  Currency conversion apps tell us instantly how many US Dollars those Argentinian Pesos convert to, so no need for that.

No little cards with our hotel name and address on it in the local dialect (this was especially important in Thailand, because many cab drivers only read the local dialect).  Now we have a contact on our phone and can flash it when trying to communicate.
