The Adventure Begins

We are seasoned travelers.  Well, we were, at least, until COVID side railed any real travel some three years ago.  Since then, we’ve been home (mostly).

And we’ve somewhat lost our touch.  It took a while to find all the “stuff” that we travel with – electrical converters, luggage tags, etc., which means that after doing something of an archeological dig at the house we visited Amazon and got more.

It was a bit of an adjustment getting back into the groove of thinking about traveling, especially internationally.  Our trip this time around takes us first to Buenos Aires, Argentina (waaaayyy down on the east coast of South America (some 5037 miles from home), for those of you who happen to be geographically challenged).  After a week in BA we board a cruise ship (Celebrity Infinity) for a 2-week voyage that will, among other stops, visit Antarctica.

Yep – we are gonna be about as far away from Santa Claus as is humanly possible on earth.

So, we started getting ready about the time that Santa returned up North.  There was lots of planning before that, of course – this trip was supposed to have happened in January / February of 2022, but again COVID interfered and both Argentina and the cruise ships were shut down.

We’re here at the airport now, though.  Specifically, we are in the American Airlines Admirals lounge at Charlotte Douglas Airport waiting on the first plane – one that will take us to Miami, FL, and then after a short layover we will travel overnight to Buenos Aires, landing there around 7:00 a.m. Tuesday, Hickory time.  (There’s a 2-hour time difference, so it’ll be 5:00 a.m. North Carolina time).
